The fifth annual Art Crawl & Membership Drive hosted by the Athens Area Arts Council—slated for this Saturday, Dec. 12 from 1–5 p.m.—will feature the work of more than 30 local artists displayed throughout the Chase Park Warehouses. Nineteen businesses in the complex will present special one-day-only group and solo art shows of paintings, sculpture, photography and more. Several artists working in painting, mixed media and metalwork will open their studios to the public for a behind-the-scenes look into their creative space.
In addition to visual art, visitors can enjoy live performances at various venues, including “Interactive Art: Anonymous True Confessions” at BikeAthens Bike Recycle Program, a set by Cult of Riggonia at Classic City Racquet Sports and a performance by the Underground Dance Society at Balance Pilates & Wellness Studio. The Tree Room will host live music curated by JazzAthens,GA at the top of every hour, and a culminating party from 4–5 p.m. will feature music by Genetic Outcast and Hunger Anthem.
The Sweet Spot Studio Gallery has a full schedule of live music, Comic Strip Comedy and an extensive collection of works by the gallery's artists. Around the corner, the New Sweet Spot will house spoken-word performances, as well as a Cake Crawl featuring sweet treats from more than 20 restaurants and bakeries. Finish up your gift shopping at ATHICA's Holiday Market, which will host more than 15 local vendors including Will Eskridge, Lisa Freeman, Necklush, Thready for Anything and Make Nice Design Co.
