Renowned illustrator Jack Davis, a UGA graduate best known as a founder of the satirical Mad magazine, has died at age 91.
Born in 1924 in Atlanta, Davis attended UGA on the G.I. Bill and loved to draw Bulldog-related images throughout his career.
In addition to his Bulldog work and hundreds of cartoons, comics and advertisements, Davis also designed covers for Time and TV Guide and posters for classic movies like American Graffiti.
He retired in 2014 because, as he put it, “I can still draw, but I can’t draw like I used to.”
