Patterson Hood, Nancy Denson, Spencer Frye, Others Talk Mayonnaise

In this promo video for the upcoming Tomatoes at Terrapin fundraiser, the local brewery's annual benefit for the Athens Nurses Clinic—you can eat tomato sandwiches and drink beer while supporting a good cause and who doesn't like all those things—local celebrities debate the merits of mayonnaise.

Specifically, the clip asks the all-important question: Hellmann's or Duke's? The former, of course, is the all-American stuff you'll find in literally every grocery store and on every condiment bar, and the latter is the ultra-Southern sauce with the folksy backstory and a growing number of cultish converts.

It's not surprising, given our geographical location, that (spoiler alert!) most folks in the video choose Duke's. Or, for that matter, that our MOR mayor is a Miracle Whip gal. But State Rep. Spencer Frye proclaiming himself a "no-mayo kind of a guy?" That's some serious sacrilege, right there.

Tomatoes at Terrapin takes place at Terrapin Beer Co. (duh) on Thursday, July 25 during the brewery's normal tour hours, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
