Hey, fellow old folks who have come to believe nothing good happens after midnight, New Belgium Brewing and The World Famous have planned something for you. And by you, I mean me. Starting Feb. 9 and continuing Sundays through at least Mar. 2, the downtown bar/eatery will have beer and brunch pairings, plus live music starting at 12:30 p.m. (the current confirmed lineup is Ruby the Rabbitfoot, Josh Perkins, Wieuca and Madeline, in that order).
World Famous chef Jarad Blanton says we can expect:
Pork green chili nachos with black bean salsa and queso fresco made using their new wheat sour beer "snapshot". We will also have use one of their beers (have a beer tasting scheduled today) to make a cheese dip for the pretzels and I'm working on a couple different styles of tamales to pair with another of their beers.
The brunch has been described as eggless. Why? Blanton says, "I hate both brunch and brunch-related menu items. That's why it's eggless. If I never have to make eggs Benedict again, I could live with that!" Heh. There's a Facebook event here.
Also, Hugh Acheson's Five Points Mexican joint Cinco y Diez has an official website up, complete with food and drink menus ($6 tacos!), lovely photography and a new opening date of Jan. 21. Hours are Sunday-Thursday 5:30-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5:30-11 p.m. for dinner; Saturday and Sunday 10:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. for brunch and lunch.
