A-Trak, Flosstradamus to Play Farm 255 on Saturday

Two of the biggest names in DJ music invade Athens for a free "house party"

Last week Pitchfork reported that Fool's Gold honcho/world chambion turntablist A-Trak was embarking on a "House Party Tour," a five-date jaunt at various locales across the country where the DJ would set up and, along with Chicago party-duo Flosstradamus and Atlanta MC Donnis, perform a set for a smattering of lucky fans.

It so happens that Athens was on the list, and this Saturday, the improbably conceived throwdown will happen right downtown, at Farm 255. Now, the Mercer West-booked venue ain't exactly a "house," but West's M.O., as evidenced by his years running local DIY venue Secret Squirrel, is such that it doesn't really matter. Farm shows are basically house shows: they start late, run late and are usually pretty haphazard. They just happen to take place at a high-end restaurant right in the middle of downtown Athens.

The big question on everyone's lips seems to be: What will the sound be like? Farm's PA system (the type you'd expect to find at, you guessed it, a house show) isn't exactly known for being capable of handling nuclear levels of subsonic bass. How will the tiny house speakers handle it?

West assures that we needn't worry. He's borrowed a Georgia Theatre PA for the occasion, complete with subs. Which mean: It's on.
