FRIDAY, SEPT. 14
Drivin' n' Cryin', Will Hoge @ Georgia Theatre: Relive the glory of early-'90s alt-rock radio with the hard-working dudes of D'n'C. The group's new EP series is showcasing a new, more energetic side of the band, too.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 15
The Orkids, Save Grand Canyon, Ravello @ 40 Watt: Back after a yearlong hiatus, local dance-rock outfit The Orkids is promising a new album this fall.
TaterZandra, Muuy Biien, Life In Vacuum, Nations: One of those rare awfully named pleasant surprises, TaterZandra plays heavy, discordant art-rock reminiscent of Unwound and early Sonic Youth. Diggin' it. And Muuy Biien is probably my favorite local band, so: go to this show.
Tycho, The Album Leaf @ Georgia Theatre: A one-two punch of delicate, emotive music: not the type of thing you normally expect the Theatre to host following a UGA football game. Curious to see how this one plays out. Still, it's gonna be good.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 16
Fergus and Geronimo, JAILL: Two Sub Pop-approved indie buzz bands play a Sunday show at Farm. JAILL's angular, psych-inflected rock and F&G's fuzzy punk should provide a real cool time.
