ESG, Superchunk, Waxahatchee to Play Athens Popfest in August

HHBTM Records’ Athens Popfest, which returned last year after a hiatus, has announced the bulk of the lineup for its 2017 edition, which happens Aug. 9–12.

The list, which consists of a whopping 48 bands thus far, includes exciting headliners such as no-wave legends ESG and Elephant 6 greats Apples in Stereo, as well as Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier, Waxahatchee, Superchunk, Elf Power, Sneaks and many more.

Early-bird full-festival passes are now available for $55, a steal for a four-day fest with a killer lineup in an even more killer city. Individual day passes start at $12.

Other announced acts include Veldt, Matt Harnish (of Bunnygrunt), Palehound, Gotobeds, Outer Spaces, Big Fresh, Kleenex Girl Wonder, Rat Fancy, Red Pony Clock, Peyote Coyote, DieAlps!, Coeds, Big Quiet, Superbody, Seafang, Dump Him, Ancient Whales, Heavenly Creatures, Divine Feed, Fergusons and Scharde.

Local artists playing the festival include Eureka California, Pylon Reenactment Society, Tunabunny, Lingua Franca, Feather Trade, Wanda, Antlered Aunt Lord, White Violet, Einschlagen, Emileigh Ireland, Marshmallow Coast, Claire Cronin, Saline and Scooterbabe.
