Athens troubadour Cortez Garza releases his latest full-length, The Low Vibe, tomorrow. Flagpole's Gordon Lamb calls the album, tracked with Matt Tamisin at Japanski Studio, a "tight collection of a mere eight songs [that] is refreshing in both its brevity and strength of composition."
Today, we're happy to premiere the video for "Immortal," the album's reflective lead single. Directed by Russell Oliver and filmed in the coastal Georgia town of Darien, the clip aims "to capture the essence of blue-collar life in everyday America," says Garza.
As for the song itself, which features backing vocals by Kaitlyn Kessler and instrumental contributions from Cicada Rhythm's Dave Kirslis and folk mainstay Scott Low, among others, it "embodies a more soulful side of Americana, for fans of Ray Charles or even Chris Stapleton," Garza says, adding, "When mixing this record, we were influenced heavily by The Beatles."
