Flagpole Premieres: Deep State, 'Time Unrivaled'

If there were an award for hardest-working rock band in Athens, it'd surely go to Deep State. The four-piece has seemingly lived on the road since releasing the excellent Thought Garden in April, and yet it's somehow found time to begin prepping another new LP, reportedly titled The Path to Fast Oblivion.

No release date set for that album, but we're beyond happy to share its lead single, the fuzzed-out "Time Unrivaled," which you can stream below. The new track takes the frantic punk energy of Thought Garden and corrals it into a tuneful, three-minute jam:

Frontman Taylor Chmura says the new song "asks a simple question: Do you look back at the past and wonder how you got to where you are at present (physically and mentally)?"

For the new album, the band underwent a bit of a lineup shift, as Christian DeRoeck moved from bass to guitar and new bassist Brandon Page joined the fold.

Deep State is currently on tour (of course) and scheduled to play Lafayette, LA tonight, after which it heads through Texas and on to the West Coast. Check out the group's upcoming dates here.
