Though currently based out of Savannah, rapper and producer Kedrick Mack, aka Dope KNife, has formed a close relationship with the Athens scene over the past couple of years, appearing regularly on local bills and collaborating with local artists. In fact, Mack says he and Athens have gotten so close, he plans to move to the Classic City later this year.
To get a jump-start on welcoming Mack to town, we're happy to premiere a brand new Dope KNife track, the very dope indeed "Make Perfect Remix," featuring an appearance from none other than Athens-rap sensation Linqua Franqa.
The tune, from Dope KNife's upcoming LP, Things Got Worse, is a mellow yet arresting number that cribs reverently from jazzy '90s boom bap while maintaining a fluidly psychedelic undercurrent.
"This song is ultimately about the drive to get things done," says Mack. "I have a specific topic in my head, but I'd rather people apply this song to themselves than be stuck with what I was literally thinking with this one."

Dope KNife will play an album release show Friday, May 17 at Little Kings Shuffle Club.
