Athens psych-rock crew Dream Culture is putting the finishing touches on its long-awaited debut LP, Heat Rises, which frontman Evan Leima recorded over the course of three years at makeshift studios set up inside six different houses.
Today, we're excited to dish out the first taste of the new album in the form of "Likuid," its elastic first single, which takes the proggy psych-pop of 2015's Post-Habitual EP and gives it loopy new life. Check it out below:
Leima says:
The general theme [of the record] is attempting to come into oneself, trying to be an adult, while at the same time struggling to balance that with interpersonal relationships and substances and the anxiety that comes along with such facts of life.
Heat Rises was mixed and mastered by Jesse Mangum at The Glow Recording Studio, and though there's no release date just yet, Dream Culture will play the Seeds of Sound Music and Arts Festival in Sparta on Saturday, Sept. 30, where attendees can surely hear more of the new tunes.
