As previously announced, Athens-based garage-rock duo Eureka California will release its fourth full-length, Roadrunners, May 4 via local label HHBTM. Previously, the group shared the record's punchy first single, "Threads," plus the more leisurely "Mexican Coke." Now, we're pleased to premiere the invigorating "Over It," which you can stream below.

Brevity has long been Eureka California's M.O., and "Over It" finds the group further distilling its infectious punk energy into a tight, two-minute cyclone of fuzz and melody. Singer Jake Ward explains that the tune was inspired by another Athens group:

I remember writing the song that would become "Over It" after listening to "Lilting" by Athens' Oh-OK on repeat for half an hour. That song's roughly a minute long. Basically, I listened to that song a bunch, tried to figure it out on bass, couldn't do it, and ended up coming up with something else entirely while writing the lyrics in the shower. Subject-wise, this song is pretty obvious as to what it's about, isn't it? I'm very proud of the lyric "Mercury is in retrograde/ But you can only use that excuse once, I'm afraid."
