Welcome to another installment of Flagpole Premieres!, where we debut exclusive new material from local artists.
Here's a treat, courtesy rootsy singer-songwriter Gabriel Kelley, who called Athens home for many years and who now lives and plays music, appropriately, in Music City. It's a brand new music video for Kelley's song "Only Thing to Do," and it's a striking collection of concert footage and open-road imagery compiled from Kelley's time on tour. The tune itself is a taut, muscular thing—a soulful, acoustic-minded jam that nicely showcases Kelley's vocal abilities while remaining pleasantly, if deceptively, unobtrusive.
After writing and playing music for years, Kelley recently released his long-awaited debut. The Kickstarter-funded It Don't Come Easy is available from the iTunes store and at Kelley's shows, of which he has two upcoming in our area. First, he'll be at Eddie's Attic in Decatur this Wednesday, August 29. Then, on Wednesday, September 12, he'll be at The Melting Point with Michael Mann of local rockers Radiolucent. Go out and welcome him back to town—and hear some sweet tunes in the process.
