Flagpole Premieres: Kwazymoto, 'Death Gallop' Video

Athens band Kwazymoto has cemented itself as one of the most forward-thinking rock acts in town, thanks to its tireless search for punk's emotional and intellectual core, as displayed on recordings like last year's My American Family and 2017's Limerence Land.

Most recently, Kwazymoto dropped the Kill or Be Killed EP (cover art above), a fast-burning, three-song effort that is perhaps the group's most pummeling release to date. Today, we're excited to premiere the video for the EP's middle track, "Death Gallop," which flirts with tech and industrial vibes while retaining the band's trademark noise-punk approach.

Frontman Ian Hemerlein writes in an email:

The video was directed by William Major and created by the Lamar Dodd School of Art Spring 2019 Video Concepts & Practice Course that he teaches at UGA. My sister, Lauren Hemerlein, has had been apart of many of the visual aspects of Kwazymoto in the past. She is a student in the class and approached us to volunteer our song for their final project to create a music video.

The song is from our EP called "Kill or Be Killed" that we released last month. It was tracked by Zeke Sayer at Gypsy Farm Studio and mixed/mastered by Joel Hatstat. The EP is very much about internal struggles dealt with during the creative process. Specifically, Death Gallop asks the age old question- can we be happy and great at the same time?

Kwazymoto is a finalist in the Punk/Hardcore category on this year's Flagpole Athens Music Awards ballot. Go vote!
