The last we heard from the Classic City's foremost wizard of lo-fi beatscapes, murk daddy flex, aka Terence Chiyezhan, he was bowling Athens over with 2014's Genesis LP. Flagpole praised that record, calling it "a kaleidoscopic stew of hip hop beats, global style and multi-genre finesse" in our review. Genesis eventually landed at No. 4 in our list of that year's best local albums.
Then, as suddenly as the project appeared, murk daddy flex dropped off the face of the scene. Now, like a gift from the instrumental-hip-hop gods, Chiyezhan is back with a brand new tune: the jazzy, enigmatic "Morgan Middleton, Vox Populi," which you can stream below:
Chiyezhan is tight-lipped about the origin of this particular tune and the potential for a full-fledged murk daddy flex comeback, saying only that "future releases [are] forthcoming!" To which we say: Dammit, 2017, give us this one simple pleasure.
