Athens singer-songwriter Sarah Zúñiga specializes in the sort of earnest, heart-tugging folk-pop that's made for mid-afternoon drives and sunny poolside hangs. Last year, she released a debut EP, Someday Soon, and now she's back with a lighthearted new single and accompanying video, which we're happy to premiere today.
The song, "I Like Knowing You're Around," is a lush, tropical indie-pop tune that evokes images of sweltering days and still-warm nights—"super Athens summer vibes," as Zúñiga puts it—and serves as a fitting farewell to a long, hot season.
Zúñiga, who is currently studying abroad in London, says it's not a love song, exactly:
"I Like Knowing You're Around is a fun and vibrant song that helps depict the feeling of gratitude we have for someone regardless of the status [of] or commitment to that relationship. It's a like song, with a beautiful music video showcasing lovely parts of Athens!"
