AthFest Educates has announced the first round of performers for the 2017 edition of its AthFest Music and Arts Festival, which takes place June 23–25 downtown.
Headlining the festival's free outdoor stage are locals Futurebirds and Roadkill Ghost Choir, as well as Atlanta rockers Drivin' N Cryin' and Savannah's Zach Deputy.
The AthFest Club Crawl, which will be spread across a dozen downtown venues following the outdoor shows Friday and Saturday, will feature local heroes of Montreal and the Cindy Wilson Band, as well as reunited rockers Daisy, new indie favorites Mosaic, psych dudes New Madrid, Grateful Dead tribute act Bobby's Shorts and many others to be announced.
Meanwhile, AthFest's popular hip-hop showcase, The Many Faces of Athens Hip Hop, is confirmed to return to Ciné for a fourth consecutive year on Saturday, June 24.
We'll keep you posted as more performers are announced. Wristbands are available now via the AthFest site. You can get 'em for $20 through April, after which they'll go up to $22 in May and $25 in June.
As always, the Flagpole Athens Music Awards will act as an unofficial kickoff to this year's AthFest action. That's going down Thursday, June 22, so mark your calendars now.
