6. John K. Samson: Winter Wheat
I was once a pretty fervent Weakerthans fan, and the moody teenager in me was thrilled that John K. Samson recruited members of his former band to flesh out his latest solo record. Winter Wheat nods to the past, but it was one of two records released around the 2016 election (the other is my No. 1) that helped me cope with the present and prepare for the future.
