Zero Mile, the Atlanta-based promotions company that books and operates Athens' Georgia Theatre, as well as the Atlanta venues Variety Playhouse and Terminal West, has announced a new partnership with AEG Presents, the entertainment division of Los Angeles-based events monolith Anschutz Entertainment Group, or AEG.
Zero Mile "will retain ownership in the deal," according to Billboard.
Bolstered by the partnership, Zero Mile will soon begin construction on a new, 2,200-seat venue, The Eastern, in Atlanta's Reynoldstown neighborhood.
Co-founded by Georgia Theatre talent buyer Scott Orvold in 2016, Zero Mile is in charge of booking and operations at the popular Athens concert venue, which was purchased by an investment group in 2014.
Orvold and Allen Corbett of AEG Presents "will oversee the booking and growth of this new partnership," according to a press release. "They will lead a team of experienced promoters working under the Zero Mile banner to grow events throughout Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas."
The company will also take over The Bowery Presents' booking efforts in Atlanta. That organization is also an arm of AEG.
Orvold tells Flagpole that Georgia Theatre concertgoers won't notice much of a change, if any. "If we do our job right, you won’t be able to tell a difference with operations," he says. "[There will be] no major hires or fires or anything like that, and I will continue to book the room."
