From Oct. 7–10, the fourth annual Athens Intensified festival, the brainchild of Flagpole columnist and Athens music aficionado Gordon Lamb, returns to downtown, bringing with it an impressive lineup of local, regional and national talent.
Artists playing this year's fest include indie rockers Polaris—best known for providing the soundtrack to the cult '90s Nickelodeon show "The Adventures of Pete & Pete"—as well as Cali pop-punks Wavves, chillwave progenitor Toro Y Moi, singer-songwriter Willis Earl Beal, North Carolina's The Love Language, Chicago buzz act Twin Peaks, Brooklyn noise-punks Pop. 1280 and many more.
The full lineup thus far can be found on the Athens Intensified site.
Wristbands, which cost $45 for a full-fest pass or $25 for everything except Wavves and Toro Y Moi, go on sale this Friday, July 24.
From the press release:
A primary overarching booking and organizational principle of Athens Intensified is that the we're actual fans of the bands/artists presented. This keeps us securely rooted in what we do and happily rooting for the artists themselves. To this end, the under-card of Athens Intensified is filled each year with artists spanning the genres of EDM, garage rock, dream pop, roots country, hip-hop, punk, hardcore and more. The way we describe it is “wide in scope but narrow in focus.” That is, we are fans of a broad spectrum of sounds but quite specific in our enthusiasm. We think this year’s lineup is pretty spectacular.
Stay tuned for more lineup announcements and set times.
