Slingshot, the three-day festival of music, tech and electronic art, happens Mar. 26–28 in Athens, and, in case you hadn't heard, the fest has landed a truly impressive selection of musical talent for its third annual installment.
Along with LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and Arcade Fire's Win Butler, who will be co-headlining a DJ night that also features Pylon's Michael Lachowski, you can see The xx's Jamie xx; progressive, electronic-based acts like Holly Herndon, Nosaj Thing and Clark; and excellent upstart psych-folkie Ryley Walker.
Also, catch a selection of the finest Japanese rock bands at the popular Japan Nite; international sensations like Omar Souleyman and Awesome Tapes From Africa; and locals Reptar, Thayer Sarrano, Kenosha Kid, DIP and many more (see the full lineup on the Slingshot site).
Three-day passes are on sale for $70 (another $10 also gets you access to the comedy showcase, featuring Kyle Kinane and others). Festival director Kai Riedl tells Flagpole the purchase of a full pass also earns the buyer a free Uber ride during the weekend, as well as a 20 percent discount at participating Athens restaurants.
If you don't want to commit to the whole weekend—ya wimp, ya—Slingshot has just released single-day passes for $35. Additionally, tickets for individual shows are now available, should you wish to forgo the majority of the fest in favor of one or two favorites. They run from $12 to $30.
UPDATE, 3/23: Slingshot is now offering a $50 three-day pass that includes all music shows except for James Murphy's Saturday headlining gig at the Georgia Theatre. Plus, college students are eligible to purchase a $50 comprehensive three-day pass; email [email protected] for a promo code.
Riedl tells Flagpole: "Folks can buy tickets online and at the Georgia Theatre in person all week. Tickets will also be able to be picked up at GATH and bought and picked up at the Morton Theatre pharmacy space on Friday and Saturday."
All Slingshot tickets and passes can also be purchased here.
