It's the middle of November. Leaves have changed colors, temperatures are falling, it's getting dark at like 5 p.m., and the election is finally over. Which means… we're approaching the end.
Of the year, I mean! Although 2016 wasn't the cuddliest, most lovable year in recent memory—and 2017 ain't exactly killing it on the reasons-to-be-hopeful front—in the world of Athens music, at least, there has been much to celebrate.
Indeed, here at Flagpole, we've been heartened by steady upward and outward movement on the local scene over the past 12 months. We'll publish our writers' year-end thoughts soon, but we're also looking for input from you, our astute, local-music-loving readers.
Whether it was a specific band, an album, a concert experience or something broader, we want to hear from you about what you loved about Athens music in 2016, and why.
Leave a comment here or email it to [email protected], and keep it under 100 words, please. We'll run many of your responses in an upcoming issue of Flagpole and online.
And hey! We're also accepting submissions for our annual Slackpole double-issue, which comes out the last week of the year. Send stories, poems, photos, artwork or whatever you wanna see published to [email protected].
