In addition to the Blitzen Trapper/Phox bill at the 40 Watt, there are a couple other notable shows happ'nin tonight:
Over at Go Bar, RITVALS conclude their weekly September residency with a great supporting cast of mostly local bands: Monsoon, The Hernies, Wild of Night, Manny & the Deepthroats and Ricky Digits will all perform.
The touring bands are purty special, too: Asheville duo Alligator Indian gets deep into pop surrealism with its manic music, and Berlin-based songwriter Molly Nilsson makes bummerific synth-pop for lonely late nights. She's also responsible for one of the most indelible tunes on John Maus' 2011 LP. WHO KNOWS MAYBE SHE'LL PLAY IT?
Nashville's Loney John Hutchins is one of many songwriters paying tribute to Bruce Springsteen this evening at Hendershot's, where Boss biographer Peter Ames Carlin will also appear and read from his 2012 book Bruce. Patterson Hood, Hardy Morris and many others will perform for this Nuci's Space benefit.
