Organizers of the inaugural Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year Award have extended the deadline for nominations to Friday, Apr. 7.
The award will be presented by the Classic City Rotary Club at a concert at The Foundry on Thursday, May 11, and will include a $1,000 cash prize. As we announced in Threats & Promises earlier this month, the contest is open to anyone in Athens or the surrounding counties.
Per the Rotary's official rules:
"Self-nominations are welcome; otherwise, we recommend letting the songwriter know you are nominating them, to ensure accuracy of information.
"The song must be publicly available and must have been originally released during the annual award period (Jan. 1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2016).
"For judging, you will need to provide a link to the audio file (preferably in SoundCloud) later in the nomination. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of music industry experts, whose decisions are final."
Here's the submission form. Get nominatin'!
