Several years ago, Centro-Matic frontman Will Johnson got the idea to ditch the clubs and ditch the divide between artist and performer by doing a series of "Living Room Shows," intimate performances where Johnson set up shop in a lucky fan's living room and played a set of his material for a small but enraptured group.
A new batch of Living Room Shows has been announced—Johnson will hit the road in September (in support of his new solo album Scorpion, out Sept. 11) with fellow troubadour Anders Parker for a series of the scaled-down outings. The duo hits Athens on Monday, Sept. 17, and tickets go on sale tomorrow (Saturday) via Undertow. These babies tend to sell out pretty quickly, as space is extremely limited.
Above, check out a video of Johnson, who is no stranger to our town, having spent serious time here in years past, playing his gorgeous tune "Just to Know What You've Been Dreaming" at a Living Room Show from 2007. It's a little taste of what we might expect in September. I, for one, am excited.
