1. Beer

As Athens prepares to welcome its third craft brewery, the myriad events that made up what's been dubbed "Athens Beer Week," including Terrapin's anniversary carnival and the Classic City Brewfest, reminded us of the pure power of the suds. 

2. Prosper Hedges

The local artist has launched a clothing line in support of women's reproductive rights. See this week's Flagpole for more.

3. Athens record stores

Record Store Day is this Saturday, Apr. 18, and officially, Wuxtry and Secret Sounds will have the goods. But all of Athens' vinyl purveyors deserve the nod. Listen local, y'all! Look for Wuxtry employees' RSD picks online and in the print edition Wednesday.

4. Lera Lynn

Shortly after swinging through town, the former Athenian was heard soundtracking the latest "True Detective" teaser trailer with a smoldering tune. Check it out.

5. Food

Because you need something to soak up the beer, and because Athens is bustling right now in the culinary department. There's great local work being done on the hunger front, too; this week's Locavore spotlights UGA's upcoming Food Waste and Hunger Summit.
