1. Tofu Baby

Missy Kulik's lil' lump of soy turned 10 last week and celebrated the publication of her 400th comic (!) in the pages of Flagpole. Appropriately, she agreed to grace our cover to commemorate the occasion.

2. Ferguson protestors

About 200 locals gathered peacefully at the Arch last week to express their frustration with the Missouri decision, as well as discuss ways to mend fences as a community. 

3. Centro-matic

The long-running Texas band with strong Athens ties says farewell with a string of shows this month, including a stop at the Georgia Theatre this weekend. See this week's Flagpole for more.

4. Pete McCommons

Our intrepid publisher has co-authored a book about the physical history of Athens. Sounds like a pretty nice Christmas gift to us.

5. Harrison Butker

The Georgia Tech kicker with the oh-so-mockable name ripped the town's collective heart out with an improbable 53-yard field goal to send Saturday's game to overtime. We all know what happened next. HEY MAYBE NEXT YEAR AM I RIGHT GUYS?
