Athens-Clarke County police are still investigating the death of Quantavious Deante Griffith of Spring Valley Road, who was hit by a car and killed on Cedar Shoals Drive early Saturday morning.
Police initially classified Griffith's death as a hit-and-run, but according to the Athens Banner-Herald, they no longer believe that's the case.
While lying in the road, Griffith apparently was hit by two vehicles, an SUV driven by a 48-year-old woman, then a taxi van driven by a 69-year-old man. The driver of the SUV stopped and called 911, police said.
An autopsy was conducted Monday morning, but police have not said why Griffith was lying in the road.
No charges have been filed.
