Just in time for the deluge of cars rolling into town for the Georgia-Missouri game Saturday night, the Georgia Department of Transportation has reopened two ramps at the Loop-Prince Avenue interchange.
A traffic signal pole and cabinet were damaged by a water main break off Jefferson Road Thursday night, forcing GDOT to close the ramps while they waited on replacements from South Georgia. Repairs were made, and the ramps reopened at 4:45 p.m.
Athens-Clarke County officials said they anticipate that the main break will be repaired by midnight tonight. Assuming testing shows water is safe to drink, they said they’ll lift a boil-water advisory 24 hours after the break is fixed.
