ACC workers try to locate and repair a water main break off Jefferson Road on Friday.

Athens-Clarke County lifted a boil-water advisory for western Clarke County Monday night after testing showed that the water is safe to drink.

A 24-inch main broke Friday near the Homewood Hills shopping center, reducing water pressure and potentially allowing pathogens into the water supply for thousands of residents. It also damaged the Loop’s Prince Avenue interchange, which was shut down for a day.

It took workers several days to locate and repair the break. Repairs were completed Sunday afternoon, and lines were flushed. ACC tested the water again after 24 hours and found it was safe to drink.
