After every UGA home football game, Flagpole reporter and photographer Joshua L. Jones will be checking the police blotter to find the weekend’s strangest drunken antics. All information is taken from Athens-Clarke County police reports.

• An officer on foot patrol near East Broad Street and College Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Saturday noticed a young male bent over and vomiting onto the sidewalk in front of Taco Stand. The officer asked the man if he would like an ambulance and for some identification. The man refused both but eventually presented a fake South Carolina driver’s license and was arrested for public intoxication and underage consumption of alcohol. The 18-year-old Alpharetta man also had his fake ID collected and destroyed. While being taken to jail, the man had to be let out of the van to vomit again.

• An officer stopped at the intersection of North Chase Street and Reese Street around 3:30 a.m. Saturday observed a man sitting on a brick wall and laying back in the grass who appeared to be sleeping. The officer saw the man was breathing and that his wallet was on the ground next to him. The officer picked up wallet to retrieve the man's identification. The officer discovered the man's fake ID and his driver’s license, which indicated he was only 20 years of age. The Loganville man was arrested for public intoxication and underage consumption.

• Saturday, an officer was dispatched to the Waffle House at 140 West Clayton St. in response to two disorderly men who allegedly tried to assault a homeless man in front of the nearby parking deck.

The officer observed the two men notice him enter, and they began to run up the parking deck stairway. The the officer yelled at them to stop and come back down; however, the two disregarded the officers commands and continued up the stairwell.

Additional units arrived and secured the exits to the parking deck. Two officers began a floor-to-floor search and located the two men on the fifth floor after 10 minutes. They claimed they had not heard the officer’s commands. The men—a 20- and a 21-year-old from Athens—were arrested on charges obstruction for leaving the scene of an alleged crime and ignoring the officer’s verbal commands.

While searching the 21-year-old, an officer found four Xanax in his right pocket, and he was charged with possession of a Schedule IX substance. The man became hostile towards the officer.

During transport, the man made the statement that if the officer didn't have a uniform and badge, and he wasn't handcuffed at the time, he would show the officer what his military training could do.

• An officer on patrol Saturday at 1:20 a.m. on East Clayton Street noticed two people in a second-floor apartment above the Cabin Room Bar were leaning out of the window and pouring liquid out of beer cans onto the crowd below. The officer flashed his flashlight on the subjects, and they went inside the apartment. The two subjects—a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old, both of Athens—appeared in another window, and the officer observed the 23-year-old spit out of the window onto the crowd below. The management of the apartment complex was summoned to the scene, and the two men were warned that activity of this nature would not be tolerated.

• Around 9:20 p.m., an officer noticed another officer following a pedestrian out of the intersection of Broad and Jackson streets after the pedestrian had walked through the middle of some vehicles that were being directed to move. The officer observed the subject had a glass in his right hand, and also heard the subject motioning and yelling at the other officer.

The officer rode towards the subject on his patrol bike and told him to stop. The subject did not comply, continuing to walk toward campus, and the officer grabbed the subject by his right arm, knocking the glass out of his hand as he threw his hands up in the air and continued to yell at the officer. Another officer assisted as the subject was placed on the ground and in handcuffs.

The 35-year-old Bainbridge man was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and being a pedestrian under the influence of alcohol. The man then went from being very abusive and vulgar to being very polite and calm.

• Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, an officer was approached by a cab driver. An intoxicated 19-year-old Bluffton, SC, woman was sleeping in the front of his cab. When awakened by the officer, she could not provide a local address, and she told the officer she thought she was in South Carolina. The officer, seeing that the woman was a danger to herself because of her high level of intoxication, placed her under arrest for underage consumption of alcohol.

• Early Sunday morning, two officers patrolling through the downtown area stopped when they spotted two people fighting on the ground. The men—a 19-year-old from Loganville and a 24-year-old from Eatonton—were both holding onto each other and would not let go. The officer yelled at them to stop, but neither obeyed. The officer was able to grab the older subject’s left arm, which he had wrapped around the 19-year-old’s head, and pull the older man off of the younger man.

Both were placed under arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and searched, revealing a dip can containing a bag of marijuana in the 24-year-old’s back pocket and another individual’s driver’s license in the 19-year-old’s wallet.
