The Athens Spring Fling, scheduled to take place Saturday at Southeast Clarke Park, has been canceled by organizers due to the threat of bad weather, according to a post on the event's Facebook page.

The full text of the post is below:

After consulting with local officials and much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Spring Fling.

The safety of our citizens and vendors is of utmost importance, as well as the protection of personal property.

Given the consistent and worsening weather forecast within the critical 48 hour window, we feel this is the best decision for all involved.

Weather.com is reporting there is an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms in Athens Saturday, and a 60% chance Sunday. The Athens Human Rights Festival, set for Saturday and Sunday on College Square, is reportedly still happening. We will update this post if that changes.
