Here's a weird opportunity for local bands (with an added bonus for those who love baseball): The Cobb Atlanta Braves are looking for area groups to play Turner Field following select 2014 home games.

[sic]-riddled press release below:

From country to pop, bluegrass to hip hop, the Atlanta Braves are looking for musical acts to perform at home games during the 2014 season. Qualified bands should have the ability to energize and entertain thousands of fans that enter through the Turner Field gates. All genres of original groups, as well as cover bands, areencouraged to submit their information for review at www.braves.com/bravesband.

Musicians selected to perform during the 2014 season will receive free tickets for their band members to that night’s game and a special discount code to pass along to their loyal followers to see them live in action. One group will be named the “Braves Band of the Year” and win a free suite during the opening homestand in April, 2015 and  will get to once again take the stage before the game. The “ Braves Band of the Year” will be chosen by the Braves game entertainment staff, who will judge the groups based on combination of factors including crowd participation and enthusiasm.

“Back City Woods” was named 2013 Braves Band of the Year after their high-energy mix of Southern Rock, Bluegrass and Americana Folk performance rocked Turner Field on Saturday, July 13 when the Braves hosted the Cincinnati Reds. Back City Woods will help kick off the 2014 Braves Band of the Year competition by performing on Opening Weekend, Saturday, April 12 before the Braves take on their division rivals, the Washington Nationals.

Plus, unlimited on-field hugs from Freddie Freeman.* So. Does your half-baked Dio tribute act have what it takes to be BRAVES BAND OF THE YEAR? Maybe. Probably. Why not apply
