The sad news rolled in on social media yesterday that Curtis Vorda, an Athens musician known for his free spirit, virtuosic singing talent and work with bands like psych supergroup Dark Meat and prog-tinged rockers American Mannequins, passed away after suffering a brain aneurysm.

UPDATE: Two memorial events have been announced, both on Friday, Sept. 30. A "celebration of life" service will be held at 1 p.m. at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home in Gainesville. Another celebration will be held Friday evening at the Broad River Outpost in Danielsville.
