Friends and family of Richard "Rich" Mullinax are mourning the Athens musician, who died on Jan. 25.
Mullinax was a well-known guitarist, singer and stand-up bass player who gigged with many Athens groups over the years. He also worked as a concert promoter, booking a regular series of bluegrass and Americana shows around town.
According to his obituary, Mullinax also spent much of his time "helping many people recover from the trauma experienced in an ill-conceived drug and alcohol rehab program, and was an active participant in a drug and alcohol recovery program."
Funeral services were held Feb. 4, according to the obituary. Tributes continue to roll in on Facebook, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to establish a fund to benefit Mullinax's two young sons.
Flagpole's thoughts are with Mullinax's loved ones.
