Call it a symbolic tribute if you like. But we can't think of anyone more powerful this week than Murray, whose UGA career ended early on Saturday when the quarterback left the game with a knee injury in the second quarter against Kentucky. It was the latest and perhaps the most gut-knotting bit of misfortune in what has truly been a bizarro season for the Dawgs, a team that saw its BCS (and eventually its SEC) hopes crushed by a dismal string of, erm, unlucky occurrences, to put it mildly

Even so, it all served to emphasize the mightiness of Murray, who had nothing short of a career-defining season in 2013. The dude no doubt has a long and fruitful NFL career ahead of him, but he'll be best remembered by Georgia faithful as the guy who broke all kinds of crazy records even with the majority of his receiving corps sidelined, the guy who stuck it out for 13 plays after tearing his ACL in what he no doubt felt in his gut would be his final college game.

Confounding factors aside, football fan or no, you've gotta admire the fella's mettle. And so we raise our glass to you, Aaron, you prince of the Classic City, you king of the Southeastern Conference. Here's hoping you win one million Super Bowls.
