Get in on the ground floor with Boy, a brand new Athens-based punk duo featuring guitarist/bassist/vocalist Dionnet Bhatti (Nurture) and drummer Scott Chalfant (Waitress).
The band's first single, "Art Donut," which Flagpole is happy to premiere today, is a lean, aggressive slice of noise-rock that should please fans of similar slash-and-burn groups like Unwound and Pissed Jeans.

Yesterday, we reported on the tracklist for this year's AthFest compilation album. Now, AthFest has released the names of the artists who will headline the free outdoor Pulaski Street stage June 26–28.
AthFest has revealed the final track listing for the 2015 edition of its annual compilation album.
Assembled and produced by students in UGA's Music Business Program, and released by Ghostmeat Records, the 21-track record features songs from established local favorites The Whigs, T. Hardy Morris and Reptar, as well as upstarts Roadkill Ghost Choir, Monsoon, New Wives and others.
The third annual Athens Hip Hop Awards happened Saturday, Mar. 7 at the Morton Theatre. Flagpole photographers Joshua L. Jones and Randy Schafer were there to document the show. Check out photos and video below.

Athens/Atlanta dream-pop trio Fake Flowers (full disclosure: Andy Barton, the band's drummer, is an occasional Flagpole contributor) have tooled around the scene for some time, releasing the five-song Opaque Pop EP last summer, a slick set of jangly, melodic tunes that referenced Kevin Shields, Teenage Fanclub and The Feelies in equal measure.
Last week brought the terribly sad news that 23-year-old UGA student Philip Carpenter had been found dead in his downtown apartment. Carpenter, whom friends knew as Phil, was active in the Athens music community, as a singer-songwriter and member of the bands Colibri and Second Sons.
