Oconee GOP Restricts Recording at Candidate Forum Tuesday
The Oconee County Republican Party on Tuesday night will host the second of three scheduled debates between Mike Collins and Jody Hice, candidates seeking the Republican Party nomination for Congress from the 10th District.
The debate is scheduled to take place from 6–7:30 p.m. in the library on Experiment Station Road in Watkinsville.

In an interview with the right-wing website Newsmax on Georgia's new "guns everywhere" law, the soon-to-be-former Athens congressman said that the Second Amendment is the most important amendment.

UPDATE: The Sunshine Cycles Mural Is Gone

People are bummed that the mural on the side of the former Sunshine Cycles store on West Washington Street (it moved to Baxter Street in April) has been painted over.
Philanthropy—the Tennessee-based Christian women's clothing store that is taking over the space—posted a message from landlord Corky Sams on Facebook explaining the decision:

Police Arrest Suspect in May Shooting
Athens-Clarke County police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Athens resident Telvin Fleming, 20, on Friday and charged him with the drive-by shooting of Jordorian Randolph, 18, outside a Westchester Circle duplex on May 30.

WRAS Alumni Suggest Alternative Plan to GSU
Album 88 Alumni, the nonprofit group formed to save the beloved college radio station WRAS, released a proposal today that was submitted to Georgia State Unversity President Mark Becker last week as an alternative to the recent partnernship with Georgia Public Broadcasting.
