This hilarious bit of news is being picked up by everyone from Creative Loafing to TMZ, but it's worth noting that the original scoop came from Starcasm, whose source was none other than Athens' Uncle Pizza, aka Jubee of Jubee and the Morning After. Because he was there, for some reason.
After earnest, old-timey-ish folk-rock outfit Mumford & Sons played Centennial Olympic Park Tuesday night, they did what all celebrities visiting Atlanta do: they ate at Antico went to the Clermont Lounge, that dimly lit bastion of middle-aged stripperdom.

The lineup for this year's sophomore installment of the Athens Intensified festival, two days of music happening down at the Caledonia Lounge, has been announced. Organizer (and longtime Flagpole columnist) Gordon Lamb reveals that the event will take place Oct. 25–26 and will be headlined by DJ Andy Rourke (the former Smiths bassist) and Maserati, respectively.
For the full lineup, click below.
Tonight at Flicker, there's a great triple-bill of local talent, featuring Ryan Gray Moore of Brothers, Steven Trimmer of Grass Giraffes/Glasscrafts and Mothers, the folky project from songwriter Kristine Leschper. Watch Leschper play the gorgeous "Blood-Letting" below:
Athens Slingshot, "the new festival of music, electronic arts and tech in Athens, GA," plans to return for a second year in 2014, with hopes that a state economic development grant will help it expand from last year's impressively envisioned but under-attended event.
On March 21–22 of next year (that's the weekend after UGA's spring break and SXSW), the fest will again take over downtown Athens, spotlighting local, national and international musicians, artists and innovators.
Today, festival organizers announced they are taking submissions in the music and art categories. The deadline for art submissions is Nov. 1; no deadline has yet been posted for music.

There's a pretty stellar bil of heavy music over at the Caledonia Lounge tonight, featuring locals Pale Prophet and Antpile as well as Richmond, VA's Inter Arma and Philly black-metal phenoms Woe, a band fronted by guitarist Chris Grigg whose latest album, Withdrawal, can be streamed after the jump:
Former Flagpole music editor Michelle Davis, who's currently in Washington, D.C. on some fancy law-school internship, shot this video of a panda bear twerking to Big Freedia's "Ass Azz Everywhere" at the Smithsonian's National Zoo:
1. Football. Football, football, football. UGA vs. South Carolina kicks off from Sanford Stadium at 4:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN. (Also, read UGA wide receiver Chris Conley's Athens Diet column.)
2. The Rivalry Music Festival, featuring Wiz Khalifa, Savoy, Reptar and many more, takes over the Spring Valley Eco Farm all Friday long.
On Tuesday, Echo, the vegan restaurant that took over the Washington Street space recently vacated by Farm 255, opened for business. Among the questions surrounding the transition was whether the new restaurant would continue Farm's tradition of hosting late-night live music and, more specifically, whether the new owners would keep Mercer West, who has been responsible for assembling some of the most interesting bills in Athens over the past near-decade, on as talent buyer.
Oh, hello again. Here's another new music dump for your hump day listening pleasure.
Over at Green Room tonight, Atlanta rocker Tedo Stone kicks off a weekly September residency. Stone's well-worn Americana should appeal to fans of The District Attorneys and their This is American Music ilk.
Welcome to Flagpole Premieres!, where we debut exclusive new material from local artists.
Welcome to Athens Power Rankings. In the spirit of sports rating systems, through painstaking analysis, we rank the top movers and shakers in the Classic City each week. Who's hot? Who's not? Find out below.
As new bars move into Normaltown, the Pizza Hut franchise in that neighborhood decided to pack up and move to Baxter Street, across from the UGA dorms (and right next to the Papa John's. Mediocre pizza wars, anyone?).
But the new location will offer more than pepperoni: it will also house a "listening room," where you can enjoy stripped-down live music every weekend, complete with beer and wine for sale, according to local musician Bruce Moshe Lutz, who is booking the music there.
The unlikely pairing begins tonight at 9 p.m., when songwriter and luthier Scott Baxendale will perform. For future listings, keep your eyes peeled to our Calendar.
If you're looking for a party mix to throw on the stereo this Labor Day weekend, you could do a lot worse than the new one from local producer ChamberMusic, which you can stream below:
1. You should probably go see the Coathangers at Green Room on Friday.
2. Or, you could check out OCAF's "Georgia Pottery Invitational" opening gala.
3. Georgia's football season kicks off Saturday evening against Clemson. Watch that shit.
Hey, slick. Wanna have a pool party? With free beer? And, oh yeah, be in a Lera Lynn music video, too? YES. YES YOU DO. On Wednesday, Film Athens tweeted the following image:
The first Sunday of each month, the Athens-Clarke County Library hosts a concert in its Appleton Auditorium. The shows are a cool way for local bands to share their tunes with folks who might not normally be out and about at the downtown clubs. Plus: books!
A mysterious joint venture between Committee Entertainment and AMP—two organizations also involved in the similarly college-minded Life in Color party series—the Rivalry Music Festival will take place next Friday, Sept. 6 on land owned by Spring Valley EcoFarms. (That's the weekend of the South Carolina game, in case you were wondering.) The headliner for the Athens event? Pittsburgh weed-rap phenom Wiz Khalifa.
Hey there. You doin' alright? Work got you down? Here's a relaxing new Old Smokey video to help you ease into the latter part of the week.
The debut record from Shonna Tucker & Eye Candy, A Tell All, is out Oct. 15. It's gonna be good. You can stream three tracks from it here, and pre-order that shit over here.
Below, watch the album trailer, in which Tucker talks about her writing process and the new record ("I think everyone's gonna dig it") and the band runs through some of them sweet, sweet tunes.
