Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Nunn, after voting early in Adamsville, stopped by Athens City Hall this afternoon for a rally on her way to a fundraiser at The Hill.
Nunn touted a new poll giving her a slight lead over Republican nominee David Perdue and urged supporters to vote early. As she's done throughout the campaign, Nunn contrasted her views on education and her background as a nonprofit executive with Perdue's.
"I hope that we can do things in this election and as a senator that will actually affect people's lives," Nunn told about 75 supporters. "That's why I'm doing this, and that's why I think people are excited, whether it's raising the minimum wage or whether it's ensuring that all of our college students have an affordable pathway to college.

Game over: Jason Carter has won the coveted Patterson Hood endorsement.
Just kidding—nobody's sealed the deal yet. But introducing the Drive-By Truckers—whom Carter befriended while attending UGA law school—at a sold-out Tabernacle show certainly doesn't hurt the Democratic gubernatorial nominee's chances. This is just a guess, but I doubt Gov. Nathan Deal has Southern Rock Opera on his iPod.

The woman—who was not in a crosswalk—was crossing Prince near Oglethorpe Avenue at around 6 p.m. A 20-year-old Monroe woman driving a Toyota Scion hit her as she was turning right from Satula Avenue onto Prince, according to Athens-Clarke County police.

Members of the Oconee Rivers Greenway Commission voted unanimously Tuesday not to build a planned greenway trail thru the River Oaks neighborhood, near the University of Georgia golf course off College Station Road.
A long-planned extension of the present greenway from Oconee Street southward was slated to follow the river only part of the way anyway toward Whitehall Road, departing from the river to eventually become a roadside path along Milledge Avenue. But a branch of the trail would have continued through the River Oaks subdivision. That plan has upset some residents over the years.
