Get those signs ready, hooligans: ESPN's flagship college football program, "College GameDay," will broadcast from Athens this Saturday, Sept. 28. starting at 9 a.m. No. 9 Georgia takes on No. 6 LSU at Sanford Stadium at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.
The show, which features talking heads Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and former Georgia linebacker David Pollack, is a network staple known primarily for its feature wherein the hosts (and often a celebrity guest) predict the outcomes of the day's games. For the final segment, which previews the day's marquee matchup, Corso famously dons the head of the mascot from whichever team he predicts will win.
Gail Ann Hurd, the executive producer of the hit AMC zomedy (Get it? I just made that up.) "The Walking Dead" is speaking at the Richard B. Russell Special Collections Libraries at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.

2. Freek 'til the break of dawn (or at least 'til last call) at Freekfest.

Athens Slingshot, "the new festival of music, electronic arts and tech in Athens, GA," plans to return for a second year in 2014, with hopes that a state economic development grant will help it expand from last year's impressively envisioned but under-attended event.
On March 21–22 of next year (that's the weekend after UGA's spring break and SXSW), the fest will again take over downtown Athens, spotlighting local, national and international musicians, artists and innovators.
Today, festival organizers announced they are taking submissions in the music and art categories. The deadline for art submissions is Nov. 1; no deadline has yet been posted for music.
Steve Spurrier and South Carolina come into Athens today ranked sixth in the country and hoping to win their fourth straight against the Dawgs. Georgia looks to bounce back after a tough loss to Clemson last week, a game in which star running back Todd Gurley strained a quad muscle (and WR Malcolm Mitchell was lost for the season with a celebration-related injury). However, all signs point toward Gurley being available to play in today's matchup.
After the jump, follow along as we live blog the action, and feel free to weigh in in the comments.

When three Cedartown locals set out to make their first feature-length indie movie, they dropped everything they were doing to make it happen.
After two years and practically no budget (less than $3,000 later), Benjamin Roberds, Jordan Reyes, and Tylar Carver, finished their film "A Plague So Pleasant," which is a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse.

And this year's con comes to an end... Now it's time to start planning for next Dragon Con. I've already stared working on my costume.
I've captured a lifetime of moments from this past Labor Day weekend. I've literally slept for no more than nine hours since Thursday. Needless to say, since I'm not the engergizer bunny, my brain is fried and not very good for word making.
So, for now, enjoy these photos.
