Last October, Ciné hosted a star-studded "rough-cut screening" of What Doesn't Kill Me… The Life and Music of Vic Chesnutt, a documentary film directed by former Athenian and Chesnutt associate Scott Stuckey.
At the time, Stuckey and producer John "JoJo" Hermann told Flagpole they were unsure when the film would actually be released; rumors swirled that a rift between Stuckey and Chesnutt's wife, Tina Whatley Chesnutt, was the reason for its delay.

Buck yeah! Yesterday, R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck announced via the band's site that he's got a new solo record on the way. Warzone Earth is out Oct. 16 via Portland, OR-based Mississippi Records, and folks will be able to pre-order the vinyl-only release here.
Local indie rock outfit The Hernies has existed in some form since 2013, but its lineup has recently solidified into a four-piece unit featuring Henry Barbe, Winston Barbe, Glenn Reece and Evan Amburn. The band is reportedly prepping the release of its debut album, which it hopes to have out early next year.

New Athens/Atlanta four-piece band Houston in the Blind is building some nice buzz in advance of its debut album, Limbs, out Oct. 9 and available to pre-order on Bandcamp.
