Commercial development has its downside, District Attorney Ken Mauldin told the Oconee County Board of Commissioners during a recent work session.

The Wendy's at the corner of Prince Avenue and Newton Street caught fire about 4:30 p.m., spewing plastic-smelling smoke over the neighborhood.
Residents of Farmer’s Exchange Lofts on East Broad Street found their 23-year-old roommate unresponsive this morning, said Hilda Sorrow, the public information officer for Athens-Clarke County police.
Due to a snowstorm coming through later today, the University of Georgia will close at 1:30 p.m., and Clarke County Schools will close at 12:30 p.m.
