Part 2 of our Cloud series will cover artists who work or have worked with Chicago Footwork. Footwork, a dance genre born of ghetto house, has been sweeping the globe for a few years now and is one of the most aurally exciting new forms out there. (Check out our previous feature here.) These artists don't work exclusively in footwork and a few notables who don't post often were left out for that reason.
In addition to his work with locals Sam Sniper and The Viking Progress, Athens songwriter Nicholas Mallis is known for fronting the indie-folk outfit Yo Soybean, a band that dissolved late last year. Now, Mallis is striking out on his own, and offering up a taste of what folks can expect from his new project.
After the jump, check out the exclusive premiere of the moody, melodic "Moonrise."
Ruby the RabbitFoot's highly anticipated Normaltown Records debut, New as Dew, is out Mar. 18 (you can pre-order it here). In advance of the release, the band has unveiled a music video for the album's leadoff track, "Ways," which you can dig after the jump.
Bored at work? Need some of that sweet new Athens music to help you cope with the crushing monotony of day-to-day life? You're in luck, 'cause we've compiled three of the best new local releases into one handy blog post. Dig in after the jump.

Four Eyes, the Athens-based indie-pop project helmed by songwriter Erin Lovett, is gearing up to release a new album, Our Insides, which it will celebrate with a show at Flicker on Friday. The full-band record finds Lovett and company in excellent form, a leap forward from the group's twee-folk beginnings.
Prior to the album's release, we're happy to premiere the gorgeously constructed music video for Our Insides' singalong title track. Watch it after the jump.

Resolutions: practice, patience, focus, absorption, fitness, witness. To start off this new year, .ext is going to pick up right where it left off—a full year ago. In the interest of moving forward, I'm going to share some things from the past that are worth bringing into the future.
Our first list is a series of SoundCloud accounts worth following. I'm not trying to advertise for the site; obviously there are many, many ways to find new work, but this one has been the most fruitful and fulfilling for me over the past few years. Accounts are free, and even if you aren't uploading, you can follow artists and their new uploads will be organized into a dashboard for you. It's a great way to engage with exciting creators at every point in their process.
Fresh off his solo debut Audition Tapes' No. 1 slot on Flagpole's Top 10 Albums of 2013 list, local troubadour T. Hardy Morris is offering up free downloads of his new live album, Live at the Georgia Theatre. The six-track album, recorded last year with the help of Thayer Sarrano and Matt Stoessel, features five tunes from Audition Tapes, as well as an unreleased song called "Drinking of You." Download it here.
Morris will embark on a short tour in February, when he'll support acts like Drive-By Truckers, Robert Ellis and Wilco bassist John Stirratt's side project The Autumn Defense. He plays Athens with Ellis on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Normaltown Hall.
Venerable pop-punk outfit Against Me! will play the 40 Watt Club next Tuesday, Jan. 21 (read our feature on openers The Shondes), which happens to be the release date for the band's long-awaited album Transgender Dysphoria Blues. On the terrific album (which NPR Music premiered earlier this week), singer Laura Jane Grace chronicles her experiences since coming out as transgender in 2012.

Party Dolls, an Athens/Atlanta pop-rock ensemble led by The District Attorneys' Drew Beskin and also featuring area notables Tedo Stone, Jeremy Wheatley, Walker Beard and Frank Keith IV, is gearing up to release its debut LP, Love Wars Baby. The album is filled with what Beskin calls "dark, honest, therapeutic and true" songwriting, personal tales of triumph and loss.
The record, engineered by Keith at his home studio, is out Feb. 14 via This Is American Music, but you can get a sneak peek by streaming one of its tracks, the plaintive "I Am Not the One You Love," after the jump.

Last month, we told you all about the upcoming release from local rockers Drive-By Truckers: It was gonna be called English Oceans, had some great album art and would be out Mar. 4 via ATO.
Don't worry: All that is still true. And now we've even got a little taste of the record for ya. "Pauline Hawkins," a Petterson Hood-penned tune that appears as the fourth track on English Oceans, is reportedly based on an upcoming novel by Oregon-based author and musician Willy Vlautin. Stream the rollicking tune after the jump.
