Winds as high as 50 miles per hour ripped through Athens this morning, knocking down trees and power lines, blocking traffic and killing at least one person.
Yesterday we brought you the news that "Party Down South," the CMT series that features eight under-brained young adults with nicknames like "Daddy" and "Lil' Bit" living together for a couple months and terrorizing whatever unlucky locale happens to be playing host while destroying their minds and bodies with insane amounts of alcohol, has chosen our unlucky locale to film its upcoming second season.
Already, tales of horror have started to filter in, with folks reporting sightings of cast members riding through downtown in trucks and imploring female bystanders to bare their breasts for the cameras.
And that was Monday morning. We have a feeling it will get much worse before it gets better.

The worst of the two winter storms coming through Georgia today and tomorrow is expected to hit north and east of metro Atlanta—including Athens, according to the National Weather Service.
Athens and points north can expect up to two inches of snow today and an additional two–four inches on Wednesday, along with a quarter- or half-inch of ice.
The following events on Tuesday, Feb. 11, Wednesday, Feb. 12 and Thursday, Feb. 13 have been cancelled or postponed. Check back for updates.
Trucks headed to Atlanta might be rerouted through Athens during the ice storm that's expected to hit North Georgia tonight.
Public Safety Commissioner Mark McDonough said his department is considering two alternate routes for trucks that ordinarily would be passing through Atlanta (not those that are making deliveries in Atlanta): U.S. Highway 441 and U.S. Highway 27, which runs along the Alabama state line.
