Homedrone: American Music Festival Has NOT Been Canceled

The Melting Point has tweeted that its American Music Festival will go on Thursday rain or shine, and the outdoor portion of the concert will be moved inside.

Homedrone: Flagpole Athens Music Awards Finalists Announced

The finalists for the 2013 Flagpole Athens Music Awards have been announced. View them here. Finalists are the three bands with the most votes in each category. The winners will be announced at the star-studded Music Awards show, which takes place next Thursday, June 20 at the historic Morton Theatre.

Set to perform at the show: T. Hardy Morris, Jubee and the Morning After, Dream Boat, Victrola Rotor Oilmen (Bill Doss tribute band) and Silver Fox (Craig Lieske tribute band). Plus, a stage play courtesy of local filmmaker and musician Brett Vaughn and plenty of surprise guests.

Homedrone: Manor Sues Gucci Mane Over No-Show

As the Athens Banner-Herald reports, downtown Athens nightclub Manor is suing Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane for agreeing to perform on Halloween—and taking an advance paycheck for the appearance—and then, uh, not showing up.

And it wouldn't be an overstatement to say the system is often abused, what with every Joe Schmo on the block asking an invisible fanbase for $3,000 to properly record his debut album of polka-tinged Ween covers.

Homedrone: Mike Mills to Play Solo at Ciné, Tickets on Sale Today

On Friday, Mar. 29, Ciné will host an event called “Songs @ Ciné,” which will feature the songwriting and performing talents of a handful of Athens luminaries: Don Chambers, Dave Marr, Thayer Sarrano and Hardy Morris.

And, oh yeah, Mike Mills, too. The R.E.M. bassist and songwriter will perform solo for perhaps the first time in an official capacity—or, at least, the first time in a long damn time. This is big news, folks.
