On Saturday, June 6 at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Athens percussionist Arvin Scott will lead a tribute to the late Carl Lindberg as part of his Beat the Drum series.
The sad word spread around town this evening that Carl Lindberg, a well known and highly respected Athens musician known for his work with groups like Grogus, Old Skool Trio and Squat, has died.
Flagpole has not yet been able to confirm the cause of death, but tributes have begun pouring in on Lindberg's Facebook page.

As multiple news outlets are reporting, at least three people were killed in a car accident early this morning just north of Athens in Jackson County, near the Tanger Outlets in Commerce.

Sadly, this is not an April Fool's Day joke. Well-known Athens dog Cheeseburger has passed away at age 15.
Covenant Presbyterian Church on Barnett Shoals Road, where Veasey attends and Cheeseburger is buried, will hold a service for the dog at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Cheeseburger and his owner, Johnny Veasey, were featured in the Aug. 29, 2012 issue ofFlagpole.
University of Georgia student Mikal Ghirmazghi, 21, was found dead in her dorm room at Russell Hall at about 6 p.m. Thursday, according to UGA police.
Authorities said they don't know yet how Ghirmazghi died, but there were no obvious signs of foul play.
