Election Day is tomorrow, and the candidates are making their final pitches to the voters. Here's what's been happening the past few days:
• Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Nunn has received the coveted Ed Helms endorsement. The comedian put his name on a fundraising letter for Nunn, the daughter of former Sen. Sam Nunn.

Rising high above Oconee Street just east of downtown, the red-brick steeple seen above has long been known as a beacon of Athens music. The structure, on the site of the Steeplechase condominiums, is all that remains of the 145-year-old St. Mary's Church, the site of R.E.M.'s first-ever live performance in 1980 (and, at the time, the home of Peter Buck, Michael Stipe and Bill Berry).

Nearly three weeks after Georgia's Todd Gurley was suspended by the university while it investigated whether the star running back received cash for autographs, and one week afterthe school submitted its findings to the NCAA, that governing body has ruled that Gurley must sit a total of four games.

Democratic state Sen. Jason Carter campaigned for governor in Athens today with a special guest—his grandmother and President Jimmy Carter's wife, Rosalynn.
After shaking hands at the Varsity for nearly an hour—for the record, his order was two slaw-and-chili dogs—the Carters headed to the Tate Center for a rally.
"This is an election about the future, not the past," Rosalynn Carter said, warming up the crowd for her grandson. "We know what's been happening the past 10 years. We've been sliding back. We need to move forward."
Athens-Clarke County police believe a Greene County man may have been the one who killed 23-year-old Atlanta resident Darla Gibbons and burned her body inside a car last week.

The University of Georgia released a statement this morning announcing that it will file paperwork Wednesday with the NCAA to request reinstatement for suspended running back Todd Gurley, who has missed two games due to a school investigation into whether the star running back received improper benefits.
It's not known how quickly the NCAA will respond to UGA's request for reinstatement, though the Macon Telegraph's Seth Emerson notes that since the "NCAA and UGA have been working together on Gurley's situation… UGA's request seems almost assured of being approved."
Signs point to Gurley being available for Georgia's next game, the annual clash with the Florida Gators in Jacksonville, on Nov. 1.
Meanwhile, Gurley was recently spotted in Athens wearing—what else?—a "Free Gurley" T-shirt. Let's hope he paid for it.

It's been a long time since there was a closing that hit me this hard, but, as of the end of service last night, Cinco y Diez is no more.
After Flagpole received a tip that the locks on the building were being changed, Hugh Acheson confirmed that the restaurant is officially out of business and that the future of the building is in Melissa Clegg's hands. He also said he doesn't know what chef Whitney Otawka's plans are, but that he loved what she was doing.

The University of Georgia has canceled a speech on campus this week by a Liberian journalist due to concerns about the Ebola outbreak.
Wade C.L. Williams, the editor of Front Page Africa, was scheduled to give the McGill Lecture this Wednesday.
Georgia running back/one-time Heisman hopeful/possible demigod Todd Gurley won't be on the field against Arkansas tomorrow, but Gov. Nathan Deal and Democratic challenger Jason Carter are counting on him to help run up the score Nov. 4.
