Homedrone: Jason Isbell to Reunite with Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley for Benefit Show

Here's a bit of news that should make Drive-By Truckers fans more than a little happy: On Sunday, June 15, songwriters Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley will reunite with former bandmate Jason Isbell for a full collaborative set at the Shoals Theatre in Florence, AL.

Isbell was responsible for some of the Truckers' most beloved songs, including "Outfit" and "Goddamn Lonely Love," butIsbell was responsible for some of the Truckers' most beloved songs, including "Outfit" and "Goddamn Lonely Love," but left the band in 2007 and has since enjoyed a fruitful solo career, appearing publicly with his former bandmates only occasionally. His latest LP, the highly acclaimed Southeastern, chronicled his battles with alcoholism and his budding relationship with now-wife Amanda Shires.

Georgia has joined the more than 40 states where lawsuits seeking to overturn a ban on same-sex marriage have been filed.

Lambda Legal, a nonprofit devoted to gay rights, filed suit this morning in U.S. District Court challenging the amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriage and civil unions that passed in 2004.

Grub Notes: J. Christopher's Is Open in Five Points

After a sort of hiccup between announcing its first Athens location (back in July) and starting work renovating the interior of what was most recently The Local Jam (which closed in July 2012), J. Christopher's, the Atlanta-based breakfast chain, opened for business today.

There were some experiments with free pancakes over the weekend, but now you can go and pay for a plate of eggs, etc., from 7 a.m.–2 p.m. daily. The menu is here, and the place is a step up from national breakfast franchises, plus you can park in the Stiles building spaces to eat there.
