On their captivating debut single, Avery Leigh’s Night Palace step into a unique world that is hard to pin down and impossible to get bored of. The band is the creation of Athens’ own Avery Leigh Draut, a musician with a long list of credits and collaborations that includes everything from symphony orchestras to Jo Lampert of tUnE-yArDs. After several years of recording and touring, Draut and company have settled down to release their first single, which we’re excited to premiere here today.

Fronted by Rome transplant Cannon Rogers, Athens band CannonandtheBoxes makes melody-centered acoustic music designed to ignite and uplift. Centered on Rogers' velvety singing voice, the group follows in the folky footsteps of local faves Family and Friends on tracks like "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," released earlier this year.
Athens singer-songwriter Elijah Johnston jokingly refers to himself as a "recovering lo-fi addict," and his recent work has indeed found him ditching murky home recordings in favor of a clean, crisp full-band sound.
Led by Vancouver, BC, singer-songwriter Russell Gendron, the music of indie-folk act Bill Jr. Jr."meander[s], dreamlike, through feelings of uncertainty and loss, physical neighborhoods and change," according to the band's bio.
Athens singer-songwriter Brendan Abernathy spent three years in the local rock band Light Brigade before setting out on his own as a singer-songwriter, using loop-based techniques to add live layers to his rich, melodic confessionals. For the past few months, Abernathy has been on a house show tour of the U.S., and he'll finish up the current run with a show at the 40 Watt Club on Nov. 19.

Athens singer-songwriter Sarah Zúñiga specializes in the sort of earnest, heart-tugging folk-pop that's made for mid-afternoon drives and sunny poolside hangs. Last year, she released a debut EP, Someday Soon, and now she's back with a lighthearted new single and accompanying video, which we're happy to premiere today.
Athens power-pop-punk trio Hunger Anthem has been quiet on the release front since dropping 2015's Cut the Chord EP, a five-song slice of hook-laden rock that "bursts with urgency and is packed with jaw-droppingly great tunefulness," per Flagpole scribe Gordon Lamb.
